Project Overview:
Homma, founded in 2016 in Silicon Valley, is a smart home startup that combines architecture and technology to develop smart homes and provide next-generation living spaces. We are currently working on a project to convert 30 units on one floor of a high-rise residential building under construction in Portland, Oregon, into smart homes. We are in need of more engineers to help develop the internal tools required for setting up devices and sensors. If you're interested in working at a Silicon-Valley-meets-Japan startup, passionate about smart homes, and enjoy simplifying and streamlining tasks, we're looking for Frontend Engineers like you to join us in creating the next generation of homes.

About the team:

  • Product Manager

ポジション概要

Job Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for frontend development of internal tools that simplify and streamline the process of setting up numerous lighting devices and sensors needed for smart home conversion.

  • Collaborate with engineering team members to develop and maintain internal tools
  • Participate in weekly meetings held every Tuesday AM (Japan Time) / Monday evenings (US Time)

Ideal Candidate:

  • 5+ years of Android native app development experience (senior level candidates are also welcome!)
  • Strong in Kotlin or Java, or have relevant work experience
  • Familiar with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tools
  • Experience using Jira or equivalent task and sprint management applications
  • Able to actively communicate with team members
  • Possess problem-solving abilities and enjoy working in a rapidly changing environment
  • Proactively and independently tackle technical issues
  • Can work asynchronously in different time zones on a global project

Preferred Qualifications (a plus):

  • Deep understanding of server-side technologies such as Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript
  • Knowledge of API integration
  • Experience with JetPack Compose
  • Knowledge and experience in home automation and IoT products
  • UI development experience in enterprise applications
  • UI development experience in SaaS
  • Experience in developing web applications using React and TypeScript
  • Conversational Japanese or above is helpful but not required (all documentation is in English)

Work Type:

  • At least 16 hours per week required
  • No specific working hours
  • Bi-weekly meetings (negotiable)
  • Candidates living in Japan or North America are welcome
